Unique Testing & Quality Assurance Capabilities
Preparing samples for heat signature testing
RMCC's outstanding commitment to quality concrete products and service is evident in its use of the latest information and testing technologies. Use of these technologies gives RMCC unique capabilities for the design, management, and quality assurance of its concrete products.
As concrete cures, and the gluing action in the cementitious materials develops as a consequence of its reaction with the mix water, a steady process of heat evolution occurs. This heat evolution, which is also referred to as the heat of hydration, parallels strength development. Using Quadrel® - Information Technology Solutions for Concrete - and its companion Adiabatic Heat Signature (AHS) testing technology (an automated method for measuring the heat of hydration and its rate versus the degree of maturity), RMCC has access to concrete performance data which is not otherwise readily available.

AHS is a basic material property, which is closely correlated to a cementitious mixture's physical and chemical make-up. A Quadrel iService-compatible QdrumT calorimeter is used to measure the heat signature using a computer-automated method. Quadrel iService evaluates heat signature data in terms of concrete quality as influenced by the mixture's physical and chemical makeup. AHS data is an essential element for forecasting simulating concrete performance under field conditions. Quadrel iService, a state-of-the-art information technology and test equipment solution, combines these heat signature and simulation functions with comprehensive concrete data management to provide RMCC with the concrete industry's only total product management solution.
Programming Software to capture AHS data
By utilizing Quadrel iService and its heat signature and simulation technologies, RMCC has the capability to performance-engineer mixes and concrete placements to desired field specifications, and to test for compatibility of the mix ingredients - ensuring a consistent, high quality concrete product. By combining these state-of-the-art technologies and extensive technical knowledge, RMCC can engineer mixes and placement strategies for:
Preparing thermo couplings for field evaluation of concrete thermal profile and performance
- Fast-track Construction
- Thermal Crack Control Specifications
- Construction Schedule & Economic Optimization
- Hot or Cold-Weather Placement Conditions
- Extended Haul Times
Using Quadrel iService technologies, RMCC's capabilities are extended to include:
- Heat Signature Testing For determining concrete and cement heat of hydration as a quality control measure, and adiabatic temperature rise to determine mix suitability for high-early or mass concrete applications.
- Temperature and Maturity Testing For monitoring the concrete curing process for quality control and assurance.
- Data/Information Management For determining unit costs of various mix designs, and formwork and curing options, as well as graphical or statistical analysis of mix design features and tests.
- Performance Simulation For projecting the in-place strength, maturity and temperature profiles as a function of the mix design, formwork and curing plan, placing temperature, and ambient or weather conditions.
RMCC has unmatched standards for quality concrete products in the market place. RMCC is uniquely qualified to supply high-strength and high performance concrete for concrete construction. RMCC is in a position to deliver the best quality and service available.
